Upgrading Toolset with Kaiweets Wire Stripper and Crimper

I’ve upgraded my arsenal with some new tools for disassembling and testing smart devices: Kaiweets KWS-112 Wire Stripper and KDC02 Crimping Tool.

Those who follow Smart Home Scene, already know that I dismantled almost every smart home device I get my hands on. I am always curious in examining the internals, especially when it’s a device I intend to use in my own smart home.

A while back, I wrote an article showcasing a new electric screwdriver set, a digital multimeter and a pretty awesome soldering iron. I consider these essential for my setup and use them constantly. I don’t think I would be able to go back to a generic screwdriver or the big, bulky soldering iron I used before the KETS02.

The company that manufactures these tools is called Kaiweets. I’ve been in contact with them for a while now, and recently I asked them if they could send me a new wire crimper and stripper, to be used in my work. They obliged, and sent me the Kaiweets KWS-112 Wire Stripper and Kaiweets KDC02 Crimping Tool.

I also asked for a discount code for the readers of SmartHomeScene. You can use SHS15 to get a 15% discount on their website, applicable for any product of any category.

Kaiweets KWS-112 Wire Stripper

I scouted this little stripper on Amazon first, as it had over 5k positive reviews and excellent user feedback. The plyer is very handy, very easy to use and is super sharp. It can strip the insulation from 10-20 AWG wires or 0.8-2.6mm. I like the way it handles and how proper the weight is. There isn’t much else to say about this stripper/cutter, besides the fact that I fully recommend it.

The crimper was something else I was missing from my tool set. I always used insulating tape to wrap wires I used in my DIY projects. At least those that I intended on using in my smart home. If you are familiar with what I’m talking about, you know this is a sub-par solution.

The crimper can be used to attach all kinds of connectors, like rings, spades as well as splices and heat shrink insulators. It comes with two sets of crimping teeth which have a range of 0.5-6mm2 (or 10-22AWG). The H1 is suitable for heat shrink terminals, while the H5 is better for insulated nylon terminals. You can get a 210pcs set along with the KDC02 crimping tool from their website.
